TH CAS-38486-R9L7S0 - Dog issues Dear Mo, Thanks for the message and your continuing interest in these matters. Regarding the current occupant of 157 and the claim, that "No ASB is being caused or reported from either party", I'm puzzled by that one! I have reported and retained the likely evidence of 157's fouling (which officials will not consider for DNA testing), the front lawn is beginning to 'show the strain' (in places, becoming rather yellow) and 157's parking in front of the garages continues despite receipt of a letter, from Sophie Kendrick, to residents dated a week ago that states "All parking on this garage site must cease immediately" - the guest at 157 and the Community Housing Manager are 'suspiciously close' - a common liking for The Dog is the favoured, bizarre, explanation! Regarding 161, I remain upset that my original attempt to form, civilised, practical relations with my new immediate neighbour have not been 'particularly successful', though his various new dogs have not bothered me for a few days - I haven't heard the "puppy" whining and not heard or seen the "attack dog" during my rare ventures to the 'outside world'; I must relate here that I was listening yesterday to the BBC's Outside Source with its commentary on the Auschwitz liberation's 80th anniversary, to hear that "German Shepherds were present to intimidate the prisoners" - I'm presently a leaseholder, but these apartments were built as social housing, not concentration camps! To close, I've again checked the leaflet, sent by Housing Services which updates on the "Ownership of Dogs", with an "implementation" of 1st April 2018 - the very first bullet-point details, "People who live in high-rise flats cannot have a dog ... ", with no essential difference between my physical situation (on the second floor) and theirs! And those of us who live in a castle might still suffer the neighbour's barking dog, on the next hill-top! If you have the opportunity, please remind Sophie Kendrick who is, I suspect, even a mother, that dogs are bred and thus not natural, regularly attack babies, toddlers and also much older folk - the BBC reported just yesterday, 27th January: The owner of an XL bully dog which chased and killed a man has been jailed for three years. Ian Langley, 54, was mauled in Shiney Row, near Sunderland, on 3 October 2023, and died in hospital from "catastrophic" neck injuries. Christopher Bell, 45, admitted being the owner of a dog which caused injury leading to death while dangerously out of control in a public place. Bell's dog, an 18-month-old American XL bully called Titan which had a history of attacking other dogs, was shot dead by police at the scene of the attack. Anybody 'Halal' my neighbour's dog? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 16th January 25 - ASB 19914 Dog issues Dear Mo, Many thanks for the 'phone chat earlier. As a civilised man, you've become even more important given the revelation that Ellen Cobb is yet another dog-person! That might explain why our new Councillor isn't particularly keen to engage! It seems you agree with me that dogs should not be kept in flats where there is no private place for the pets to be exercised; but then, in some respects, so do the officials - a relatively new policy is to not allow dogs in high-rise apartments, but my potentially-splendid apartment is three storeys high, also with shared stairs, exits and grounds, so what's the essential difference?  As requested, I've attached an image of the mess reported yesterday through the 'system', with a new pile I've just discovered! I've entitled this note as 'ASB 19914 - dog issues', as that matter is still running (about which you've been briefed over the years), but this new mess might well have been deposited by the new, large, "attack-dog" (in the tenant's own words) that's being kennelled in the flat opposite mine (161 High Street DY9 8LT), with another, smaller, whining dog! To recap quickly, ASB 19914 had a dog at the centre of the issue, the abusive, violent tenant was taken away by armed police last February and his nephew (who is also potentially violent, apparently) is now occupying the flat (157), with the same annoying, messy, dog!!! On a positive note, The Lye may not have the best reputation presently, but I did look out of my sunny lounge window after our chat and witnessed a pair of chirping robins - Britain doesn't get much better! David Austin 162 High Street Lye Village Stourbridge PS: Thanks for your continuing 'pressure' regarding Denziel House and the Active24 Convenience Store, with their 'unfortunate', sizeable, pile of water bottles perpetually on the pavement and their ridiculous flashing lights. Morning Councillor Hanif,   Mr Austin has been advised and continues to be advised on the process to follow regarding reports of dog fouling, which it seems like is being followed as per his email.   In regard to the ‘’offending’’ tenant (161 high street) – I am monitoring the situation with the dog, currently a puppy, but may well be a large dog when fully grown and after discussing this with the dog owner several times he understands the issues that can be caused and has assured me he will keep to the standard of his tenancy. Follow up visits will be arranged in the next few weeks/months to gain an update with the dog   I have previously advised Mr Austin, I will not be discussing the situation at 157 with him and this is between the tenant and housing. No ASB is being caused or reported from either party, and the circumstances of the tenancy are in hand.  Regards, Sophie Kendrick Community Housing Officer I hope this assists with the concerns raised.
